Objectives:
Study different types of territories in Québec, Canada and other parts of the world: tourist regions, forest regions, energy-producing regions and industrial regions, agricultural territory, Native territory and protected territory. Students learn to understand the organization of these territories and interpret issues associated with them. They develop awareness to environmental problems and to their consumer rights and responsibilities.
Textbook: Issues and Territories
Materials :
- 2” Binder (preferably navy blue)
- pencils, pens, ruler, highlighters in various colours, etc
Evaluation Criteria :
Competency 1: Understand the organization of a territory 30%
- Deconstructs the landscapes in a territory.
- Grasps the meaning of human actions with regards to the territory.
- Uses cartographic language.
- Relates different geographic scales.
Competency 2: Interprets a territorial issue 40%
- Describes the complexity of a territorial issue
- Evaluates the proposals of the groups involved
- Considers how the territorial issue is dealt with.
Competency 3: Construct his/her consciousness of global citizenship 30%
- Shows the global nature of a geographic phenomenon..
- Examines human actions in terms of the future
- Evaluates solutions to global issues
The 3 competencies will be evaluated at the end of every term with the following activities:
